I just upgraded from a 06 sporster 1200L to a 08 SG and need some advice on stage 1. Being my sportster was carb I dont know to much about the EFI bikes. I would like to get some slip-ons like rineharts and need some info on air intake and mapping. Im not too familar with power commanders any info or suggestions would help alot Thanks!
I added Rush slipon pipes, Screaming Eagle AC and just went with the stage 1 download for $125. It ran so good that I canceled the Pro Tuner that I had on order. MPG is still up around 40 MPG. Runs cooler and very strong.
I had a PCIII on my 06 ran great but MPG suffered.
You don't have to do anything to the bike if all you want is to add slip ons... Ran my 07 EGC for 25k miles before i did my SE stage 1. Ran like a top.. little bit more ooomph! with syage 1.
I put on the power package from Fuelmoto after talking to Jamie on the phone first. I told him I wanted a map somewhere in the middle of performance and mpg. What I got was awesome power, cooler running motor and average 40-42 mpg, so I am happy. I even had the dealer check out my map on the dyno for another issue, that turned out to be the starter. The tech told me the map was " right on the money". So, I would talk to Jamie and he will give you some sound advice.
my 08 sg, i put the rinehart slip ons, screamin eagle air cleaner, and the stage 1 download. ran just great, excellent fuel economy, a huge increase, and the best bang for the buck. then i decided when the pcv comes out and is available for the 08 i'll get one of them, pre canned, etc. it did increase the tourque, acceleration, etc, but the fuel economy went from 42+ down to the low to mid 30's. the stage 1 download will allow your motor to rev to 6200 vs 5500 stock, it changes the rev limiter, and fattens up the fuel enough. the oxygen sensors in the headers will compensate for the increase in fuel demands just fine with the stage one kit, provided you also do the stage 1 download. i am planning on removing the pcv, but as yet, haven't felt like monkeying with it. besides that's a winter project, even though it'll only take a half hour to remove it.
