Now 22K on the '07RKC I resurrected from salvage with 13K on it. Two long trips and the other 1/2 local miles...no issues. Love my 5th gear whine.

Default 2007 EG Classic

I have over 49,000 miles on my bike, and will be taking a 5,000 mile round trip from Sugar Land, Tx to Bigfork Montana at the end of July.

No problems so far.

Good luck.

18k on my 07 Ultra with no issues. Do have an intermittent whine in all gears which sounds like it's coming from the primary.

Well I guess I'm not as observant as the guys "in the know" who post here. My old bike runs like a banshee, the tranny doesn't howl, rattle, or whine, the *** end follows the front, no wobble, and I have never broken my throttle cable. Come to think of it I never broke one in my life and I'm past 60 and have been riding at lot since I got my scooter permit at 14. Oh well thanks to the guys on the forum who tell me how bad this bike is, cause I would have never known it otherwise.
What he said.

I am going to jinx myself by posting, I just know it. No warranty, 33K on my '07 and the "y" pipe has cracked due to the cheap-a$$ exhaust bracket cracking. No biggy, replaced the pipe with one from ebay and got a new bracket. Front brake reservoir leaked, melting the paint off the reservoir. Doesn't leak anymore but looks like hell. Batwing rattles at low rpm's, but not sure if a bracket is bad because it's tight and doesn't move at all. The drive train whines line a 2 year old at various speeds, but I have no idea if this is normal. It's not getting worse so that's good.

Other than that, it's been fine. Running a stage one: PCIII usb with a canned map, modified stock muffs, SE AC. Runs good, cooler than stock and I get between 38-40mpg depending how hard I hammer it. I do notice the motor is WAY quieter than my '04 TC88 in terms of top-end noise.

The only thing that worries me is the drive train whine but I am going to take her to the dealer and have a tech listen/ride it to get a first hand opinion from someone who has heard one that is failing. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Overall, I like the bike, but at times I wish I would have gotten an older one like an '03', '04' or '05' because it seems to me, and this is my opinion, the overall quality of the bike seems lower than my '04, kind of cheap actually, which I find very disappointing. I am still a loyal fan though - always have been, always will be.

I get 42-43 mpg.
I run Amsoil in the engine and trans. I change the engine at 4k and the trans and primary at 10k. I just changed the fork oil using the method I found on this site, It took about an hour. I looked at the new ultra limited but with what they will give me on trade I think I am going to try and ride this past 100k instead.
Searching thru the tranny section on this site you will see alot of this bearing problem. When you let the clutch out in neutral there should be only a slight whiring clutch sound. Mine got a bit louder over a few months between 35k and 38k. Dealer took my primary and tranny off to show me a bad inner primary bearing and the tranny main shaft bearing had worn and slipped against the 5th gear which requred replacing the final drive (5th gear) assembly. Compensator spring pack assembly was also worn out. All three items were replaced under extended warranty. From the tranny threads the problem seems to most likely occur between 30k and 40k regardless of fluid types or change frequency.

Other than that problem all has been a great ride. Stage 1 intake, sert w/dealer dynotune and flhx front/rear shocks is it. 42k and not planning on trading any time soon.

Ah, OK - didn't know there was really a "check" for the inner primary bearing and/or tranny output shaft bearing. Mine is silent (relatively) with the bike at a standstill and clutch either in or out - makes no noise difference at all. The only whine I get is when moving and then it depends entirely on gear and speed. Some gears do not whine at all and 5th whines noticeably, but I know that's "normal".

Thanks for the info.

I've only had my 2007 Road King Custom since March. I've been reading not only this thread, but other threads concerning the 2007 models and it started to give me cause for concern. I really don't notice any 5th gear whine, but hey - what do I know. I wear a half helmet so maybe the wind noise disguises the whine. Perhaps I am just not sophisticated enough to understand what I am supposed to be hearing. The bike runs really well. At least I think it does. My question is - If the 5th gear is whining, would I definitely know it? This is only my second Harley having sold my 2000 Dyna in 2005. Thanks.

I currently have just over 39,000 km on my 07' and the only part to go on me has been tires and a brake signal switch for my front brake. A little piece of wire that cost $95 CND. *fingers crossed* I am very happy with the bike, but that's coming from an 82' Shovel.
