I'm planning to put chrome Heritage bars (PN: 56623-99) on my '09 FLTR to give the improved grip position that many have found so helpful. I want to be sure I've got what I need before starting. Is there enough extra length in the wires, brake line & clutch cable to accomodate this change or will longer items be required? I'd hate to tear it apart and find I need a bunch of things which will prevent me from get it back on the road.
On your 09 it requires no extras. Biggest hassle is removing the wires from the connector so you can pull it out of the old bars and into the new bars. 09's have no throttle cables and the brake and clutch cables do not have to be replaced. I did readjust my clutch cable in the grommets so i had a little more slack. Changed about 5000 miles ago and no issues. Good luck...ride safe
the P/N mentioned here will not have the hole for the wires and the notch for the throttle sensor. the wires are easy to remove after disconnecting inside the nacelle. they the separate in the middle of the harness for easy removal from the bars. get the heritage style bars in the P/A catalog specifically for 09s.

ditto. did not notice part # on bars but definitely get the ones for the fbw throttle...good luck
Yeah, that's the one. Changed it this spring on my '08 with minimal problems. Did a 3600 mile trip this summer and no more 'back burn'. Made a huge difference in riding comfort.
Thanks for catching the PN error. I would've been pissed if I bought the wrong bars, took everything apart and had the wrong bars!
Does any aftermarket company make heritage bars that would provide the same grip position, but complete internal wiring? I did internal wiring on my prior '06 Road King and liked the clean look. I wasn't gonna to that here as the wires are less obvious behind a faring, but I thought I'd ask.
