Windshild Replacment
Good advice from emwolb and mariner227! I cut my stock windshield down where I could see over it with the thought of getting a re-curve of the same height if I liked it. Well, I did that last year and I am still using the cut down stock windshield!! I got a local glass shop to cut mine down for me for just a few bucks.
Use the stock screen to figure out what height works for you. I cut mine down, but from the BOTTOM, not the top. Just trace the outline of the bottom onto some cardboard, cover the bottom of the shield with painter's tape and trace the shape onto the tape up about an inch or two (whatever you want to lower the shield by). Takes five minutes with a fine toothed jigsaw and you don't have to mess with the wet-sanding - the cuts can actually be fairly crude since they're hidden inside the fairing.
I have a Clearview 9.5" with recurve that I use in the summer. I go back to my cut-down stock shield in the fall. It's about 10.75" - just perfect. If you're like most people, you'll try several before you settle on one you like. Experiment with the cheap ones first 'til you find the right size(s).

Longrides 9 in in light grey for me. The recurve makes a huge difference in wind buffetting. At 6' 1" I can easily look overthe top by 2 to 3 inches and the recurve directs the wind over my head. This is an amazing improvement over the HD 9 1/2 shield I replaced.
