Yup...Within two days I dropped it twice practicing the RLAP maneuvers in a parking lot. I was barely moving and no damage other than a few minor scrapes on the underside of the crash bar which you cannot see. They make it look sooooo easy in the RLAP video. Since then - All good!

Stopped at the Lenscrafters to pick up my new RX Ray Ban's.. Listening to a good country song blasting on my EGC. Stopped, kicked the jiffy stand and thought it was out but it had sprung back to the frame without me knowing and started to let the bike down and i can still hear myself going OOOOHHH!!!! SSSSSHHHHHHHIIIIITTTTTTT!!!!!!! Well i was more embarassed than anything... learned real quick how to pick it up by myself...Damn that bike is a Hoss...

Have had my EGC 10 weeks now. Haven't dropped it yet but I feel I'm getting closer. Compared to my old Shadow, and with the wife on the back, there's 450 lbs more than my old bike. I'm OK one-up, but I've had 3 low speed parking lot wobbles with her on it.

um...yes, twice in one day. The first was at a Subway Restaurant in front of a few rocket riders...embarrassing...the second...at the gas station...forgot to put the jiffy stand down again.

Never dropped a bike and started riding in the early seventies.
I have done all of the dumbass things though, like taking off with kickstand down, starting in gear, ect., and of course all were in public. Had 2 close calls though.
One, was leaving our favoriite restaurant. I was warming the bike while talking to my buddy next to me. My wife proceeds to attempt her mount without letting me know (she doesnt do that anymore), puts her hands on my shoulders and starts to swing her leg but hits the backrest and loses her balance, falling back away from the bike with her hands still on my shoulders. Almost pulled us all over, took all my strength to keep upright.
Second time was just a few months ago, I was doing a slow speed turn out of a gas station parking lot and got cut off by a pick-up truck who stopped right in front of me. I had to lean it much further to avoid hitting his rear bumper and put my right foot out for balance while still moving. Got my foot caught between the footboard and the ground and twisted it in several directions it aint supposed to be. Severely sprained ankle and on crutches for a week. Still gets sore sometimes. Now I am very focused on where my feet are when I put them down, that friggin hurt like like hell.

Dropped mine Friday for the 4th time in 4 months, once on a road at a stop sign, once at Harley, once in garage (thought the stand was down). Pissed me off. Wife still has the black and blue on her leg to show for it. Car ran in front of us in a parking lot... I was turning right, feet on the ground, and hit the front brake 'nuff said.

2 or 3 days after getting my Ultra, I had the pleasure of watching her lazily flop over and take a nap. I worked at Argonne National Lab at the time, and the safety nazzies there required riders to wear a helmet on site. I never wear a helmet, but I stuck one in the tour pack so I could stop and put it on at the entry gate. I stopped at the gate and angrily kicked the side stand down. It apparently bounced back a little so it did not lock. I rested the bike on the stand, walked aroung to open the tour pack, and stood there looking like a moron as the bike slowly rolled forward and flopped on its side. I found out just how heavy them suckers are. After getting it up, there was a couple little pink things on the ground.

Guilty....riding since 79 and layed down 09 Streeet Glide 2 months after buying it....

Re: I'm an idiot!
Re #2: I used to ride a Fat boy and could stand on my rear brake with no issues.
I tried to make a panic stop with my new 09 and due to the fabulious BREMBO brakes it has...I locked up the rear and couldnt recover.....

Bikes all fixed ....damage was all cosmetic.....it took me too long to adapt to the new grabbing power of the rear brake. Lesson learned.
1 st time down. Glad it's over.

There are those who have, those who will, and those who lie about it. I think that about covers the subject.
