Its been a long 6 months or so not riding and selling my beloved Heritage as a result of 2 back operations but i have recovered well and have really itchy feet and the time has now come to get a new scoot.I have the opportunity to get a 09 Ultra or a 10 SG for roughly the same price.($1000 bucks more for the Ultra). I always thought i would get a SG and down the track get an Ultra. And as a bonus here in Australia the 10 SG comes stock with twin pipes, yeeeeah.
I would pretty much be riding solo most of the time but it seems, bang for buck, the Ultra is the way to go.This is going to be my first bagger and always liked the SG but the Ultra has all the fruit.I love the look and lines of the SG and plan on doing modding her up a bit but i have some questions.
Is the stereo the same on these 2 bikes ie; ipod compatable which runs through the speakers on the bike? Also i have seen a few guys on here take the tourpack off the Ultra which looks good but how do you do that with the wiring etc. And the shocks are clearly shorter on the SG.I am just over 6ft if that helps.
Love my Street Glide but I have to say go with the Ultra. As far as I know the stereo is the same on the two bike but the Ultra has the intercom system enabled.
Moggsy,
Like others, I'd vote for Ultra...However...
...Before I did make a purchase (if I were in your shoes), I would rent an ultra or streetglide for a few days, go on a road-trip and make sure that your back can handle riding again.
It would really suck to go through the whole purchase process and come to find out you cannot ride more than an hour before your back begins to bother you.
IF you find that you can ride, I would definitely suggest putting an Adjustable Rider Backrest on your bike.
The stereo is the same; only difference being the Ultra has 4 speakers.
When I was confronted with that question a friend said to me... The Ultra has it all and it's easier to remove/put back on than purchasing after. The radios are the same for the most part, but the SG is missing the CB/Intercom if I remember correctly. I do plan on getting the detachable mount for mine, but it is on the lower part of my things to buy
