Floating rotors
You can just change the front ones. There is only one rotor on the back..usually.

Do we have to install all four rotors?
Or can we simply change the front ones?
How will having floating fronts and stock rear rotors affect the stopping ability?

Another picture for you - these are Braking rotors - as far as I can tell they don't make them for the newer Harleys - have a set of Lyndalls ordered for the my new Ultra - will let you know how they work when they arrive.

This is a testiment to pad wear. Back in 1996 I installed two EBC floating rotors and EBC Kevlar pads on my '95 Dyna, and 10k miles later I re-mounted them with the pads on my '96 RK, which I still own. I also replaced the rears with EBC Kevlar on the stock rotors at the same time, but since the rears are different on the Dyna these pads were new.
What's remarkable is that these rotors and pads, both front and rear, are still on the bike at 104k miles, with at least 1/3 of the material remaining. No squeal, little dust, and better stopping power when dry. When very wet there is a short hesitation when brakes are first applied, but you get used to it. I think the EBC Kevlar pads are available from Drag and are cheaper than HD pads.
