The international biker distress signal is the helmet between the traffic lane and the rear tire of the bike. No Helmet states, you must remove your head and place it where the helmet should be!

Seriously, I stop for all bikers if they are any distance from the nearest place to get help. If they are across the road from anything that might have a phone, I keep on rideing. There are so many new riders that are not bikers, you will have many riders pass you by and just wave. I wave back at them with middle finger pointing at rain clouds, woops no clouds, my mistake.

Get a reflective road side triangle or two. It's about 18" high and it folds into a single strip that can put into a bag or strapped onto the side of the bike somewhere.

Yup, exactly what he said. Pick one up at the next truck stop you go to. They are a lot better than the Wal-Mart kind. Or a couple of road flares would be pretty handy too.

I ride to work a lot from Fredericksburg,VA to Alexandria,VA about 50 miles. I left work a couple years ago on my then month old 2004 Fatboy and the crank positioning switch went out and left me on the side of the road and I had probably 20 bikes stop or at least slow down to make sure I was alright and I had already called HOG to come tow me in so I would just wave them on. I thought it was pretty cool that many people took the time to make sure I was alright, so I stop anytime I see another bike on the side of the road.
