I am interested in buying a set for my 08 RG, I've been reading threads about them touching the signal lights when installed. Any comments from owners would be helpful in making a decision.
They are close, but do not touch. I enjoy them, and have no problems with period. They make a major difference in the wind from below that previously contributed to buffeting, in my circumstance. Regards, --Bill
It takes a bit of effort to keep them from rubbing, but it can be done. If you're lazy (like me)you can place some strips of small diameter rubber hose (cut lenthwise) on the edges where it rubs. The Hogg Chopps were, by far, the best solution for my buffeting problems. All I get now is a light buffeting in my cheeks at highway speeds. I've 'followed' the airflow back with my hands and it's coming from the left and right top edges of the windsheild. I believe a slightly taller windsheild will alleviate that but haven't seen fit to spend the money necessary to correct it. You do get a little more heat on the backside of your legs because of the reduced airflow in that area, but the tradeoff was well worth it for me. Also, I've noticed the rear cylinder seems to run a bit warmer. I'm running Mobil 1, a HD oil cooler and Fuel Moto's air cleaner, Jackpot's and PCV. If I'm running down the highway in warm weather and get stopped for traffic, it doesn't take much for the EITMS to activate. I'm still contemplating what to do with that situation. One more thing, I don't know what color your bike is, but my RG is Mirage Orange Pearl and the lowers they sent me didn't quite match my bike. I'm thinking that they shot the lowers with the color used on the HD Edition Ford trucks. It's several shades off and it's very noticeable to me, but not so much to others. Hope I've been of some help.
very close and i had to move my fairing support brackets out as much as i could so they wouldn't touch. i thought about grinding the spot that touches the bracket just enough to allow me to slide them towards the outside a tad more. as you move outward, the better the clearance. love'm though!!!
Special mounting hardware comes with the chopps, when you tell the company you have a RG which moves them forward by about an inch. I don't have a RG, but I can tell you that you will need to make some placment adjustments to them over a ride or two to get them just in the right place. Not a big deal. After that, you'll love them.
Also consider paying the extra $$ to have the inside painted the same as the outside, otherwise the inside comes as a flat black.

how close has the color match been.i have mirage orange and the post about it not matching worries me.was going to order but not if they don't match.hopr some of you can helpwith what you have recieved.
My color match was so close the guys at the Harley shop were impressed! If the shade was off just a little bit I would have sent them right back and I know Andy would have fixed it. I had what I thought was a minor imperfection in the paint on mine and he paid to ship them back, shot em again and returned then within a week. I know he uses DuPont and House of Color paint w. HD paint codes. ...I doubt he shot it in a 'Ford' color...

Mine match perfectly (Vivid Black), and the turn signals are very close to touching, but do not. I wish I had the insides painted also (for $75), but missed that option at the time I ordered.
On my '10 the hogg chopps are far away from my turn signals... Id guess close to an ince away. I think its because HD changed the angle and everything. As for color match,.. its not perfect on mine. The lowers are a little shinier, but I have been around matte or flat paint before, and know with a few washings the color will match. The sheen just has to wear off a little bit.
Its hard to tell from this picture, but you can kinda see how far away mine are.
