Is it possible that this helps starting? ? In a 103 thread someone posted he used this instead of compression releases. Don't see how this eases starting ??

Has you bike ever kicked back while starting?
you know puff through the breather.
That is pretty much caused by the compensator.
Mine got so bad it would be like the clutch was slipping but with a jerking motion and loud sounding at times.
The SE compensator should come on 96 inch motors. Mine went out at 32,000 miles.
Now the bike cranks better, no banging with the starter, smoother idle and running.
Mine was toast though.
I have no idea if it would be able to take care of high compression. There is no doubt it would take some strain off the starter.
Ok, where is it? Cam side, or primary side? Any pics installed? What exactly does it do? It looks like a 2 cycle engine flywheel with the magnets in it.

they had to replace the compensator and clutch basket on my 08 103se after the 4th starter in 18k chewed the gears up. the starter worked ok after that until i traded it in 4k later.
Best $249 you can spend on your 96". The stock compensator is JUNK! I replaced mine and no more clunking when starting up. Also the clutch let off from a stop is much smoother.
