I bought this kit for my 2003 Ultra and was pleased with the improvement in looks and function over the stock lights. The stock passing lamps were not visible during the daytime and the lights sucked at night. Big improvement over the fluted lens on the '03. However, I think the stock lights on my 2009 Ultra provide better light than this kit. Just my opinion, hope it helps.
I had it on my '07 SG and pulled it off before I traded her in and installed it on my '09 Ultra. Gotta' admit I wasn't blown away by the improvement. If you look at the chart in the catalog it looks like it really throws a lot more light, and farther, than the stock unit, but I didn't really find that to be the case. Looks really cool, and the lighting is a little bit better so I left it on.
It looks similar to my Harley HID kit, which has the same style of reflector. Low beam is very wide and makes a great daytime light, but is a poor shape at night. Main beam is useless and no help at night! I even have a 100watt bulb in it and it is not much improved.
So I suggest you try a late single bulb light. You can always fit a HID bulb conversion.
My 2003 Ultra has what looks like water/smoke stains inside the upper half of the headlight lens. I also am looking for thoughts/comments on this HL. It sounds as if I will prolly go with the newer HL and maybe later a HID kit,I have HID's in my cars and love them.
Thanks for the 411.....
I had this & passing lamps installed by the dealer before I took delivery of my SG. If I had ridden it first I would not of added the passing lamps. Its that much more light.
