Default Kuryakyen cams?

Planing for a 95 real soon, But I'm the type that likes to study things and seek advice from those who been there already brfore jumping in. Been reading dyno results alot of you have listed. And it appears to me that for some reason the Kuryakyen cams are making alot more power than any others. Is this a true fact or is there more to it?

I had a set of the TC2Gs in a RoadKing. They made good hp but were soft on torque.I now run Andrews T26Gs in my 95 inch dresser, great torque cam for a heavy bike.I run the T37Gs in my 98inch Softail & love the power. Both cams are smooth.Be careful not to over cam to make 2 or 3hp.A bike with good torque #s where you live makes a bike fun to ride. Regards,Tom

I've decided to stick with the 88 for a while. My wrencher tells me that I can go 95/90 by adding S&S 510's, SE push rods Fuehling tappets and a crank case breather. Said all a 95 would buy me over that would be 10/10.

I'm currently at 80/75 and have pleanty for the riding I do. But occassionaly I'd like a little bit more. I can always go with the 95 later.

Seems like the S&S are the way to go. But that's my wrencher's opinion.

I don;t know much about the WildTHings, but I have played with the Andrews 26's & 37's quite a bit. Both are great. In a bagger, long term rideability the 26 is the way to go. My current build has 37's and makes great torque (>95 form 2200 ~ 5600). Having ridden it from Dallas to Billings recently, the problem I have it getting good enough fuel away from the D/FW area. It runs GREAT on 93 octane, but the best we could get was sometimes 90 for a couple weeks on the road. The result.... ping city! I know... compression ratio....

For anyone considering the S&S 510's, I'd take a good hard look at the Andrews 37's. Compare my dyno results to Buttmans, in the bagger dyno thread. The builds are very similar and were tuned by the same dyno tuner. Peaks are about the same, but the 37's come on earlier and stay on longer.

For me.... I'm going back to Andrews 26's with BigBoyz heads (using stock compression ratio) and a few other goodies.

Bottom line.... everyone has their own opinions and preferences. However, on a bagger you just wanna ride and have it go when you twist it.... the 26's are tuff to beat.

My 2 choices for cams when the time comes are Wild Things TC1G and Head Quarters HG-0034G. Both claim to get a stage 1 88" to at least 85hp and 90 torque.

I'm happy with 88", but when the cam chain tensioners are ready to go................it will be gear drive cams.

Hey Steve,

How many miles? I've got 21K and excpect to be well past 25K by the time I get to Sturgis. That's why I'm opting for the S&S 510's now. I want the peace of mind a gear driven cam will provide. I'm already at 80 torque and 75 HP. My tuner says with the S&S he'll get it to 95/90. I'll know for sure on the 22. Says it's about a 6 hour job. I'm also adding a thermostatic controlled oil cooler at the same time. I'll mention your choice and the Andrews and see what he says!

Thanks,

Bob

I have tried Andrews 37 and Andrews 31. They don't even come close to the power and performance of the Kuryakyn cams. I just swapped out to the Kuryakyn 26 G cam and I love it. I wish I would of went with this cam first. It would of saved me money. I highly reccomend this cam. I went with their high compression pistons also and the bike starts good runs good with a passenger and runs on 91 octane without pinging. My Andrews 37 cam would ping no matter what you did.[and made less power!]

Hey Steve,

How many miles?
I'm at 10000 miles right now, and the 1 year anni for my owning the bike is coming up on August 5. So by the time my warranty is up, I should have around 24000 miles on it. By that time I'm sure the cam chain tensioners will be ready to go for sure, and it will be gear drives going in.

I would love to hit 90/90 with just a set of cams, maybe even get the heads ported by Big Boys to help it out even more.
