I bought the bike after looking into it quite a bit. I think this is yet another example of "the sky is falling" mentality, just like the "no Timken after 2002" panic and the cam chain tensioner issues. The dealers and the third-party vendors just love it, because people are willing to fork over major dollars to "correct the MoCo's screwups".
Are the bikes perfect off the showroom floor? Nope. But every dime you spend on mods is basically lost money. Change pipes for the sound or the performance, don't worry about "heat issues".
