Default How much off 09 RK MSRP?

Hey everyone. I am looking at purchasing a Road King or Road King classic. I am right in the middle of two dealerships (both 45 mins away) and am trying to figure out if I should get a 2009 Road King Classic or a 2010 Road King. I know some of the differences between the two years; heli cut 5th, catalytic converter, 16" and 17" front wheel and difference in seats.

My biggest hang up is pricing. I called the one dealership that had both models and he said he would be able to give me a hell of a deal on an 09. Right there I thought, "Great I am sold." When I went there to actually haggle price the guy I talked to was not there. Instead I was greeted by an attractive woman. Her offer was a whopping $1,000 of MSRP on the 09. My thoughts are this is not "a hell of a deal" and that I could probably haggle a grand off of a 2010. Am I completely mistaken or should I really only expect $1000 off a bike that once winter is over will be two models old.

Thanks for any and all input.

December 2008 I was able to get $2000 off msrp on 2009 FLTR, 1,000 and 5,000 mile services prepaid, a $500 gift card for motorclothes, and a 4 year warranty. I think you should go in and make a similar offer on the 2009 and see what happens.

Just stopped by my local dealer and they have an 09 RKC, with ABS and security for $17,995 out the door. No set up or freight.

I was negotiating on an 09 RKC with one dealer, they started at $2500 under MSRP on the phone back in August with 20% off until March on all aftermarket. I contacted my favorite dealer and purchased a 10 for $2500 under MSRP. I see that they still have some 09's at Capital City Harley in Madison, I would call them. I can drive quite a ways for $1500. Who know's, you may do better.

Madison, WI was just taking $2000. off msrp on 2010's but by the time you add freight & set up it was like taking $1000. off msrp. In August I bought my 09 Ultra, ABS model from them for $19769. plus tax. They also offer 20% of HD products everyday.

$1000 off MSRP is not bad with no setup and frieght fees. You'll have guys tell you they are ripping you off here on the forum but take it with a grain of salt. The deal on the 08 the first reply gave you sounds like he got a good deal but this was also before the new frame was coming out and to me the new frame rides much much better. Also remember that the RKC's come standard with cruise control. I would try to get a little better deal by asking for 1st service free to get that frst one on record. It wont void your warranty if the dealership doesnt do the first one but I personally think the first one may be a little more thorough. Also ask for them to throw in a service manual and 20% off accesories for 6 months or so.

Well thank you everyone that has posted.

I called them back today and asked if 1k was really the best they could do. He said 1k off, free winter storage and an accessory incentive (20% off for a few months). I mentioned that that doesn't seem like much of a deal seeings how after winter is over that is going to be a two year old model. He said that there is too much overhead to take 2 or 3k off and that 1k is all he can offer.

So question is...should I continue to look or just take this offer? I live in Oswego NY and winter is quickly approaching. I don't really need winter storage but I was told if I bought it and didn't take it home any accessories bought and installed before pick up would have a two year warranty on it.

Suggestions on what to do?

If u only have a couple weeks or so to ride then wait till spring. U could get 2-3k off plus 1st and that 20% will still be there.
