Default 95 ci engine

I am considering a 04 Road King with a 95 in engine. the bike has about 50,000 miles (80000 km) & I was wondering what the life expectancy of this engine will be. The bike looks in really good condition, I'm just not too sure of the remaining engine life.
Would I be better off to find a bike with a 96 in engine
Thanks for any advise I receive

Does it have gear driven cams or chain driven. The tensioners would concern me enough to see if they were replaced. Other than that, If the regular maint. was kept up, should be fine. I have an 05'flhrci that i bought new and now has 72,281 mi. At 16,469 i put the 95" kit and S&S 510g gear driven cams, regular maint(amsiol). Still going strong.

It ought to be about broken in IF it's had good maintainence. One of my friends has a 2002 Ultra that had a 95CI kit put in when it was new. It's got 105K on the odometer and still runs like new! He did go gear drive cams at 25K.

What they said. Cam tensioners and possibly lifters would be my only concerns.

75,000 on my 04 egc and no signs of slowing down. It has been a 95" since 12K.

Thanks to all the replies. I'll find out if the cams are gear driven or not, but you've given me some very usefull information.
It is greatly appreciated

An alternative solution to the cam drive problem is a hydraulic replacement, which may have been fitted. If it has covered that mileage it has probably got a replacement cam drive of some sort by now.

I've talked to lots of HD wrenches and they all say a twin cam engine is about as bullet proof as they come. Put a gear drive cam in an early twin cam (pre-roller chain) and there is no reason you shouldn't see 100K with good maintenance.

I'd get the '04 and stick in a set of gear drive cams.
Good luck.
