I have been very happy with my Zumo 660. It is a little expensive (did not get the HD version), but works very well. Have explored some routes that I likely would not have taken without the GPS. With the built-in media player its great for keeping the tunes rolling. If you don't need the XM Radio it is a good investment. I have it mounted on the handle bars with the included mount, but have been thinking about moving it to the fairing.

I too have gone the route with the Nuvi 350, then 765T until I finally got fed up with not being able to see the screen while covered with a sandiwch bag in the rain.

Now I have the Garmin RoadTech Zumo (550) made for HD. LOVE IT! Very glove-freindly. Unlike the 660, it has some useful buttons around the bezel that make it easier to use.

Cant go wrong with any of the Zumo models, personal preferences. You can always download all of the dealerships (POI) and a lot of other neat POI's (points of Interest) ie diners and dives. You will definately enjoy the GPS that you get.

Wink If money is an obsticle then...

Try a cheap tom tom one...Wally-world $100.00 bucks, NOT waterproof though! Download all HD dealerships and you can download routes you want to ride. Just can't hear turn prompting, but you can see it. Get a RAM mount. Starts raining, just take it off or as someone else said, put a baggie over it. Of course if you can afford it...

Get yourself a Zumo 550.

Smile Phone Call

If you decide on the Garmin Zumo series you will not be sorry. Their customer support is # 1 and the Zumoforums.com site has tons of information and friendly people to help you if you have questions. If the GPs unit has Bluetooth you can pair it to your Bluetooth cell phone and for under $100.00 make and receive phone calls via the GPS interface. You need to have the factory radio system of course.

zumo 550 for me.
pricey, for sure, but worth it, in my opinion.
many, many great features. calculated arrival time uncannily accurate.
mounted on my RKC bars conveniently. plugged into my battery through a PowerLet receptor, so i can hear voice-prompts through bluetooth headset.
waterproof. easy to use with gloved hands.
pull it off to use it in my truck when not on the bike.
all around great unit.
glad i have it ... but awfully expensive.

+1 on the Zumo 550. I would purchase the unit through a retailer other than HD. This way you get both the MC cradle and the car cradle for a better price. I used the supplied mount on my RK and fed the audio out cable from the Zumo, under the gas tank and brought it out between the saddlebag and the seat. That way I can plug in my ear buds and the cord is not in my way.

Well it sounds like the 550 is the way to go. I've got the winter to decide on which model I want and what type of mount to go with. Thanks for everyones response to my questions. I've used GPS units in cars and trucks but it's a whole different animal on the bike. I like the options on this unit as well as being glove friendly too.

Thanks again everyone.
