I had a streetpilot 330, nuvi 200w, and now a Zumo 550. I got the 550 because I wanted to have XM on the bike and not have to have another box on the handle bars. The Xm is great and I also got weather and Traffic. It's waterproff and comes off the mount easily without having to disconnect any wires. I think the garmins are the easyest to use. I would get the Garmin and not the Harley model because the Garmin comes with 2 mounts and all the hardware.
bY THE WAY KURYAKIN MAKES A GREAT GAS CAP COVER MOUNT.
iTS VERY CLEAN EASY TO INSTALL
OUT OF THE WAY DOES NOT COVER ANYTHING LIKE THE BAR MOUNT
How do you run the power cables from the fuel cap to the source? Can you hide them completely all the way?
Does the GPS hit the console when you open the fuel door?
I'm just gonna take my chances with an automotive GPS and either get the Garmin Nuvi 255w or 265wt. Then I'll try this mount from ebay ..http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT
Figure I'll have about $200 into it and like stated earlier, if it starts raining hard I'll put a baggy over it...
Cheaper than Garmin, waterproof, online updates, a lot of POIs, Bluetooth headset.
Tours could be created with my PC even at work by using TYRE (a freeware which uses Goggle maps as source), Tripmaster (route tracking software) additionally installed.
I have it connected to the headlight: Tomtom goes ON with the bike (and is charged) but remains ON when the bike goes OFF.
I have the Garmin NUVI 550. Waterproof, easy to operate even with gloves.
Heres how I have mine mounted. first pic is just the ram ball mount, 2nd pic is with the unit
Thanks for the pictures. That was my other concerns on where people mount the units. I want mine to be a quick disconnect from the handle bars as well, but I am not sure they make those.
