I use the Nüvi 550. I dont use a GPS much so I didnt want to spend a lot of money on one like the ZUMO. If you are going to use the unit all the time go for the ZUMO.

The Nüvi 550 is really just a waterproof car-unit.

At work on the policebike I have the ZUMO 660 and that is a great GPS.

No matter what GPS you get, use the ram mount. Those are really great.

Good luck.

I'm trying a different approach though haven't taken an extended road trip with this setup..yet.

I bought the Navigon navigation app for my iPhone which also has real time traffic option which will reroute me around slow traffic. Of course use a Ram mount purchasing the waterproof case for the iPhone. Have used it on local trips and seems to work very well. I use the IMC bluetooth headphones and even though the Navigon app doesn't proclaim to send direction announcements wirelessly I was pleasently surprised when I was informed, through my headset, that I would be making a turn ahead.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

I know there have been a lot of GPS units mentioned, but FWIW I'll add my .02 I have a Zumo 450 and couldn't be happier with it, the Zumo forums link that was posted is a great resource also. It's very user friendly for having gloves on, has the built in MP3 player that I run through an auxillary on my stereo. It uses SD cards for storing music that can be swapped out from the bottom of the unit.

I like the versatility of having the bike mount and the car mount so I can easily switch it to whatever I am driving. If Bluetooth is important to you go with the 550 as it's Bluetooth enabled, best of luck in the search.

I use the TomTom Ryder2. I use it more in my truck at work than on the bike but it works fine either place. I can't compare it to anything because its all I've ever had. TomTom service has been great people to work with.

I scoped out all the 'black Friday" ads from yesterdays paper and found many possibilities. One local store had Garmin Nuvi 255W's on sale for $99 but listed a minimum of 10 per store. Looking at their website they had none listed on their site so I'm guessing it was a lowball item to get customers into the store. I found a couple for $119 elsewhere. What caught my eye though was a TomTom XL340S at Target for $97. I went to their website and they were available there (with free shipping) so I didn't have to get my a$$ out of bed at 5am. Now, add these and I have a GPS set-up for about $150. Not a bad deal...

I used a Zumo 550 since the day it was released. Recently upgraded to HD's 660 as it comes with a 2 yr warranty as opposed to Garmin's 1 yr even though both are serviced through Garmin. The HD comes with a wall charger unlike Garmin. The Garmin has a handlebar mount (standard RAM) but you need to buy the HD mounts separately. After buying the HD version at one of the 20% off dealers, my net was about the same.

Can't say enough good bout the Zumo units, especially if you like to design routes prior to leaving your garage.

I've been very happy with zumo 550. It has been through some serious rain storms and has had no issues. Design is very rider friendly. Added XM antennae and now listen to XM radio on my rides. And finally, wife and I use it on our family cross country trips. No complaints.

Garmin Nuvi 855 with a generic ball mount. Can operate most of the functions with gloves on.
