Yeah - I'm checking the steering head adjustment although the whole fall away adjustment approach doesn't seem to work so well on my bike due to wiring and throttle cables. Regarding the bike sitting on the lower bearing - good point - although I had the bike on a lift at the time.
You can temporarily tie a piece of heavy string/light cord around the bearing head where the grease is coming out and it will then force it out the other end. Works well.
