My pipe was ordered with a quiet baffle and looking down the end it has what looks like about 500 little louvres and you can see the packing behind the louvers and it is definatly a straight through design.
If you can see thru the louvers and spot packing...........then you have a quiet baffle. If you can see thru the louvers and don't see any packing.........then you have a standard baffle.
Normally it's very hard to see thru the louvers, so the only way to know is to remove the baffle and check for packing.
That is actually what the standard baffle looks like too from that view.
The only difference between the 2 baffles is the outer can and one has wrapping. They both have the same louvered core, but the standard baffle has a solid outer can, and the quiet baffle has a perforated outer can with packing wrapped around it.

Kevin Start the bike and put your ear down behind the pipe and have a friend juice the throttle about 1/2 to 3/4 full open. If you can hear anything after this you have the quiet baffle.

Very true. Also, if you have the new Boss FatCat, it has a newer, different baffle. There are no longer louvers. It's more of a mesh/screen.

I have the 2010 standard baffle in mine and it doesn't have the louvered can. I have the perforated mesh can. Would this be considered the "Boss" model?
