I want to try and install my XM antenna on top of my radio inside my faring but dont know if it will pick up there. Has anyone done this and how well does it work ? Or can you do this at all ?

If you'll go to Ram Mount's website...they have a XM mount that screws to the GPS mount.
I think it's like $7 bucks.
This way, you can take your XM with you in your cage.

You mean the GXM30 antenna, right? I moved mine from atop the TourPak to under the fairing a month ago and it works great. No problems with reception at all. The magnet alone is strong enough to hold it hard to the top of the radio box...it actually takes some force to get it to come off. Plus, now it's a cleaner install and no worries about theft.

Are you talking about the HD kit that integrates the XM with your HD radio? If so just follow the directions; they will have you mount it on the inside where it will work just fine.

By the way this is the only way to go; no removing it at every stop to keep it from being stolen and everything works through the radio controls already on the bike. Well worth the extra cost.
