Hey all I am looking for some honest opinions good or bad. I have a 09 Road King that I want to put on a set of the V & H Monster ovals, A SE heavy Breather and the Harley tuner. I have talked to my service guy about this and he said that I would be very happy with this set up. Now I take what they say with a grain of salt due to them being "the dealers service guy" but they have not giving me any thing to distrust them at this point. (They even replaced my front tire before anyone here had said or I should say before I have read anything on it). So here is the question of the day. #1 Would I be happy with the improvment as far as tone of my exhaust (Main reason for this question when I ride with my bro's in a pack my bike sounds like it is battery powered know what I mean?). #2 would get much as far as noticable performance improvment over stock? And finally #3 would this be a good bang for my bucks? (this point worries me the most due to the economy being so shi**y here in Michigan can't afford a mistake). Any and all help would be greatly appreciated have followed a few ideas from here and they have been great so far.
"Freedom and Wind Outlast Hard Times" SCREW IT LETS RIDE!!
A buddy I ride with has the Monster ovals on an 09RG. Personally I think they sound great. They also have a very low tone. He has no other upgrades on his RG at this time. They are definitely much louder then the stock pipes, but not too loud IMO.
As far as it being an economically wise at the time ... only you can decide that. Being perfectly honest, almost any aftermarket pipe will be an improvement over OEM stuff but you've picked out a pretty good set up. Can you find less expensive? Yes, and in my opinion still as good. I went with Rush 2.0 on my 07 FLHTC for two reasons, 1st they sounded good, 2nd they were affordable. When I bought my 09 FLHTCU, I didn't even look at another pipe because I liked them so much and received so many compliments on them. I spent more dough on the race tuner than the pipes. What matters is that you like your set up ... no one else. Have a blast and ride safe!!
Compromise....purchase the V & H Monster ovals and SE heavy Breather from your dealer (unless you can find better prices elsewhere) and purchase a PCV from Fuel Moto with the map already loaded. The PCV will be considerably cheaper than the SERT plus you'll have the option of retuning, at no extra cost, for any mods you make later on down the road. You also won't have your bike subjected to numerous dyno runs to get it tuned. Jamie @ Fuel Moto does all his tuning in house on his bikes and you get to reap the benefits. Shop around a little for the parts, do the install yourself (it's EASY) and you can save a nice little chunk of change (for more CHROME!!) I'm sure you could do it for under $1,000.
Ride safe!!

I think your set up will work out great, I have a buddy with the monster ovals and a power commander and he loved the set up and I thought it sounded great! Also... a couple weeks ago somebody had a pair of the monster ovals for sale in the touring parts classifieds section of this site... if your looking to save money you could check there for some used mufflers. Good luck
Go to Fuelmoto and price the full package with the pipes. I went with them for my Rhinehardts slip-ons and saved money and the tune on the PC-V was spot on. I personally like the Rhinehardts sound and quality and definitely a good performance gain on my 09 Ultra.
Ask about your warranty if you make the changes yourself. My dealership said my warranty would be voided if I made any changes myself. I have the V&H dual ovals, stage 1 air cleaner, and the bike tuned to the 6200 rpm upgrade on a 09 police bike and I am very pleased.
That's the set-up I have and I'm very pleased. Great sounding without being too loud. Performance gain was also pretty good. You will definately hear and feel the difference. Good luck with your decision.
