Default '05 Glide primary drain plug question

I serviced a friend's '05 Glide yesterday, but had to forego changing the primary fluid.......His primary drain is unlike my '07 in that his is actually located on his outer primary cover and not underneath on the inner primary like on later models.

The problem I had is that the inside hole of his plug is stripped out and no allen or torx bits will fit it.....I have no experience with that style drain plug so I suggested he pick up new one from dealer and return for me to replace it.

What can I expect when he shows up? Is it an allen head or torx head plug?

Also, I'm thinking I'll attempt to use an ez-out to remove his old drain plug. If that doesn't work, do you guys have any suggestions?

Internal hex.
I would try a metric hex first, may need to tap it in with a hammer. If that does not work, try an ez-out that fits tight.

So, it's an allen head?....OK, thanks.....You can believe I first tried both SAE and metric along with torx.

Yeah, I'll try an ez-out first.............scratching my head wondering how in the devil his old plug got stripped to start with....this guy up till now used an indy to do all his service(38K miles). So far I've discovered MANY critical fasteners loose to the point they were finger tight or rattling. His steering head bearings feel gritty and have never been greased. His drive belt was actually flopping.

Ya know, it's kinda scary when you take time to lift a buds scoot and really go over it......Makes you wonder how they make it down the road to your house.

To the best of my knoweledge, the only metric fittings that I know of on a Glide are the 36mm nut on the rear axle and the nuts on the battery terminals.

6mm in the fork bottom, 10mm caliper bolts to name a few more.

Yep, I've learned to keep metric tools handy whenever I wrench my "American" scoots.......Looking now for metric screw drivers and torx bits

Don't forget that if you replace stuff with anything made soemwhere else it usually has metric stuff too. Forks and calipers for sure as Dawg said. 10mm 12 point on the caliper bolts.
