Deciding on the RK or the EGC, I cannot afford brand new, so any advice on the Bike type or issues with certain years of each of these, I will likely not go any older 2003 if possible. As well have any Canadians purchased States side and brought it over the border, in most cases we are getting raped price wise up here.
Both Great bikes having owned both...The RK will allow you to take the windshield off and strip it down a bit for a more classic look and wind in the face...The EGC gives you the Batwing, Stereo and Trunk. I would advise riding both if you can find a place to rent. Look at how you plan on using it and it will help you decide...If you are going used and are looking at the EGC I would look at the Ultra, since that is what over time I have converted my EGC into.
The Pre 07 have the 88 in it and you can probably find a few out there with 95BB in it already. Having rented a good bit between bikes, I new I was going to go with a 95. Then the 07 came out with the 96 so I did not do anything to this bike except a Stage 1.
Both Great Bikes, depends on how you plan on using it. I like the Bat wing, the Stereo and the Trunk. Makes it great for running errands, grocery shopping and trips.
Well this is what I was thinking, EGC, it'll be used as much as possible for errands etc...., for eveything, but I'm really hoping for some longer rides with the Boss But I like the tear down look of the RK.
This is probably the hardest decision to make, you will be happy with either, but if you want tunes and do alot of highway riding I would definitly go with the EGC, mu opinion, as I have a RKC and do alot of highway and the only time I take the windsheild off is during bike events. I love the look of my RKC without the shield but it never comes off, or you could get the RK and buy an detachable fairing, but most that do never take it off.
I just went through this decision making process a couple of months ago. My heart was set on a RKC. But, I bought a EGC instead. I am not a giant fan of the fairing, but after having ridden in temps below 40 for a few mornings recently, my appreciation for it is growing, because my hands stay much warmer longer. I loved the tourpak from day one and it is easily my favorite thing about my EGC. Seat height is about the same, but the EGC has a much more comfortable seat.
So, it boils down to style versus function. The EGC is hands down far more functional and you get a tremendous bang for the buck. I wanted a RKC in the tourquoise two tone paint and ended up with a vivid black EGC and I have no regrets.
I ride an EG Ultra. Love it. You have to suit yourself however. IMHO once you ride and own a bike equipped with a fairing you won't want to be without one.

That was one of my thoughts regarding the Fairing, with being in Canada, and doesn't matter where, we only get a small window of riding time and some mornings can be cool, so to stay warmer over the looks, I'd prefer to stay warm.

I don't know how well the RK's windshield works, but other experiences were that I got a lot of buffeting. Once I replaced the stock windshield with something a little lower that I could look over, I have been happily surprised by how much I like the fairing. I still think the dash looks boring and I have no use for a stereo (would rather have in-dash navigation), but I can live that easier than I can cold fingers. (Note: heated grips can solve that problem too.)
I think you will find the EGC the best bet for you. If you take the tour pack off it has cleaner lines and is fine for scooting around town. Put it back on for those long cruises. I have brought 2 bikes from the US. Simple process. But shop around a lot first.
