Just picked up my new 06 Ultra. Dealer made an exceptional offer as they wanted to move the last 06's to make way for 07's. The owner advised this past Thursday, prior to going out to San Diego, that he felt HD would increase horsepower and add the 6-speed. He said he wouldn't make the same offer on the 07 as he knew he could sell them over MRSP for at least six months. I am happy with the 06 and feel the mometary saving will more than make up for what I may lose if I sell or trade later.

The first bike I had was a 76 Sportster 1000. I kept it for 20+ years and just gave it to my kid. Now that model had been upgraded over the years about a bazillion times, but mine served me just fine. I have the feeling my son will get good use out of it, too.
I will keep the 06 SG and not buy another one for a long time, if ever. It is kind of nice not having a payment. I guess I just have the kind of personality that I don't need the newest thing out there. There is nothing wrong with that mindset, it gives me lots of pretty stuff to look at while riding around. It also keeps used bikes on the market.

No regrets here with my '06 I picked up last week. Just glad to finally have one in the garage that belongs to me. Was given the low down on the '07 changes a couple weeks ago and was contemplating picking up an '07 SuperGlide or possibly Street Bob. However, do too much 2-up riding for a Dyna to be pratical. Wife axed the Street Glide and so I was in the market for a used E-Glide Standard, figured I could morph it into a Street Glide over a couple cold midwest winters.

Spent too much time trying to track down a clean reasonably priced late model EGS and was about to start looking for a basket case EVO Ultra and stopped into one last dealer in the greater Chicago area I hadn't been to yet, there sits a whole bunch of various '06s from Sporties to Ultra Classics and about every model in between. So I ask if they have any used EGS' around, he says no, but he'd cut me a killer deal on a new one. So for about the same price as some people were trying to get for well used 5 year old EGS', I walk out with a brand new one.

I knew the '07s were coming in another week, but the price savings was too much to pass up on the '06. I'm just glad to finally be riding. The 6-speed had me more interested than the extra 100cc, but figured they would use the Dyna 6-speed, which wasn't that much different in top gear than the '06 EGS anyway, so the $3000+ I saved over an '07 was well worth the slight gamble in long term resale value.

Alway do all my own work, have access to top notch machine work and discounts on performance parts anyway, so down the road I'm sure there will be some bigger cams, reworked ports, and bigger slugs anyway. The '07 lineup looks nice, but there are just too many good deals on '06s to pass up right now....[sm=icon_cheers.gif]

The only disapointment I'm feeling is the way the dealer is throwing me under the bus for trade in. My 06 is too good of a ride to be devalued the way they are talking, I'll buy a coffin big enough and take it with me.

Harry back...the two tone '06 ultra had a msrp of $20,645 vs. '07 at $21,135. That is only a $490 increase and you get a 96' with 6 speed. Plus the auto primary chain tensioner, starter bolted directly to inner primary and redesigned hydraulic cam chain tensioners, increased oil output, etc. I don't expect anybody who just bought an '06 to admit they messed up but it sure sounds like a lot of people are trying to justify the great deals they got. Here in Western New York all the dealers sell at msrp so getting jacked is not an issue. I love my '05 EGC with 31,000 miles but if my dealer gives my a decent trade...bye bye '05...hello '07.

The way I look at it is that you can ONLY go SO FAST .... and at 80 mph my bike is smooth enough in 5th ... why would I want to spend 5 to 10K more to make that ego jump to a (in my case) 110 ... nope Ill just ride my wore out 03 SERK .... no second thoughts here ....

I think the 6 speed is an attempt by HD to keep up with the custom builders. I don't think it's necessary. I get to shift often enough. The bigger engine is nice, but my dealer told me to look for a price jump of $1,000+ over th e'06. That remains to be seen. Personally I'm glad I have an '06.

ONLY WAY TO KNOW WHAT THE MOCO WAS DOING WAS TO HAVE A CRYSTAL BALL (SORRY MINE DON'T WORK) YEAH THE WAY THE DEALERS WERE TOLD TO MOVE EM I'M SURE RAISED SOME EYEBROWS. I DONT REGRET HAVING BOUGHT A 06. LIKE MANY OTHERS THE ONLY WAY I'D TRADE AT THIS POINT IS FOR WATER COOLED AND THE WAY THE EPA IS PUSHING IT CAN'T BE THAT FAR OFF. THE WAY I SEE IT IF ALL YA DO IS LOOK BACK AND KICK YOURSELF IT THE TAIL YOU'LL ONLY SEE WHERE YA BEEN AND NOT WHERE YOUR GOING. RIDE IT ENJOY IT AND DONT LOOK BACK. THE MOCO WILL KEEP BUILDING THEM
