Default 440's on a Road King. Settings???

OK, I'm a Dyna guy so help me out here. We just installed a brand new set of 13 inch Progressive 440HD shocks on my buddies 2003 Road King. He couldn't pass up the deal as well as the free front suspension kit he's going to sell on ebay to recoupe even more of his investment. Anyways, there appears to be about 10 total turns of adjustment on these shocks. What setting, or I guess how many turns from 0-10 are you guys running on these 440's. We started at 2 turns. That was crap and bottomed out just dropping your weight heavily on the seat. What we then did was run over this one big a$$ bump by my house till it didn't bottom out any more. We wound up at 7 turns. Does this seem about normal for two up riding? Still seemed decent one up as well. Where are your 440's set at?

Neil

I have 'em on my '05 SEEG (went with the 13" to raise it back up to "stock). By myself they are 3 turns, two up 6. Mine are the STD springs.

Thanks for the reply. Sounds like he's where he needs to be. He rides two up quite a bit and he's no little guy. I guess we'll leave them there for now.

A lot depends on the rider's weight. I no longer have 440's installed, but at 170# my 12˝" 440's were set to 3˝-turns from the top. That was good for solo riding without a load and another ˝-turn with a Tour-Pak and loaded. I don't ride two-up.

Thanks. Sounds like we are right about where we should be. He's a big guy and does ride two up once in a while. So 3-4 for solo only and 6-7 for two up. Cool.
