Throwing in with the others here, no, 14" is too low. 16"-18" are the only heights I've seen to take real advantage of the apehanger "power steering" effect. I too started with 10.5" mini-apes and although it was an easy install without new cables, I should have gone straight to the 16" bars...
i have 16s and i wouldnt have anything else. i have been using apes for as long as i can remember and its always been 16s. and if they look funny to ya thats fine i will out ride u any day as far as distance goes try it befor u knock it.
14" might be higher than the batwing which might cause undue wind disturbance with the wind hitting the hands. I do not have personal experience but I have read of complaints with this issue.
Apes for the win. The 12" PYO's put my hands just above the fairing but they are hella comfortable. I, personally, would not go higher but these bars are more like 13.5" anyway.
