We picked up (2) IS33 helmets a few weeks ago on Ebay, brand new from a tractor supply company. Got them for half of retail each at $68 each, couldn't beat the price. They ran true to size for wife and I, are comfortable, and have a lot of features. Very comfortable.
Threeten...the outer shield is easily removable (less than a second once you see how it's done). Either The Helmet Center or The Helmet Harbor has a video sales pitch of the helmet, and shows how easy it comes off. PM me if you have any questions.
What a bargain, I paid $139 and now feel like I got poked a little.
Another 3/4 HJC IS-33 owner here (flat black). I've had the helmet a few months now and have been real happy with fit and wear. I noticed the same thing with the radio...thought I was going crazy. Guess it makes sense that alot of the ambient noise is cut down, so you can hear better. I really like the retractable sun shield...very easy to use and convenient.
i've always hated the way half helmets felt at speeds. they feel like a parachute and get caught in the wind and pull at the strap. first time I tried an open face( or 3/4 if you like ) I knew that was the way to gho for comfort for me. I now have two open face, one HJC AC-3 and one Arai with my headset in it, and 1 full face for cold weather. Since having a kid, I have taken to wearing my helmets on every ride
I ended up going a size larger, just felt better. The sales guy even told me the XL and the XXL are the same outer size, just the padding is thinner in the cheek area to make for more room.
Thanks for your's and everyone's else's input on sizing. I'd got a good deal on Ebay on Scorpion EXO200 Large awhile back but it was just too tight so I sold it. I typically wear a large most helmets. Sound like the IS-33 runs alittle small too so I'll go XL.
I wear a white full-face Arai helmet on a black RK Police Model. I part the seas of traffic because all the cagers think I'm a cop. Cracks me up.
I know we've all got our war stories, but in 2002 I had a high speed crash on the highway which ripped some wicked gouges in the chin bar/area of my old Arai helmet.
I know I'm not the prettiest thing going, but I would have been hella ugly or dead or worse, half-dead, with anything less, and missed out on years of riding.
I remember my co-worker who came to see me in the ER holding that helmet and saying aloud, "OMG, that would have been your face!"
