Default 3/4 helmet observation

After many years of riding with a half helmet, I finally bought a 3/4 HJC IS-33. This helmet has a real good feel to it and over a 2 hour ride yesterday it was never an issue.

One thing I did notice is my Monster Ovals seem louder than ever before. I guess that the reduction in wind noise at my ears is letting me hear more of the pipes. Either way, I'm not complaining.

I went from a half to 3/4 over a year ago. Happy with the better protection and reduced wind noise. My ears are happier..

bdp did you find the IS-33 runs about true to size? Read some good reviews on it.

I got one too...love it. I wear a large in a half but went to xlarge for the 3/4 just to be sure and it fits great. Lots of places will let you return them if you keep the tags and everything on them. I think I got mine from Helmet City and was discounted some. It seems like most of the reviews I read said they fit pretty true to size.

I ended up going a size larger, just felt better. The sales guy even told me the XL and the XXL are the same outer size, just the padding is thinner in the cheek area to make for more room.

Is the face shield on this helmet detachable? Can't tell from looking at the specs.

I'm looking for a new helmet and I was kind of leaning toward the Scorpion, but this looks like a good one also.

Wearing a 3/4 helmet reduces ambient noise = better stereo too

I just bought this helmet about two months ago and I really like it.
Most of my riding, I take off the outter clear shield and just use the slide down sun visor.

If you are between sizes buy the next size bigger.
I bought an XL and wear a size 7 3/8 ball cap.
I have an older Harley helmet made buy HJC in Large that fits perfect, but now with the HJC I take an XL. This one also fits perfect.

I bought it here, after trying them on in a store. Saved some bucks.

Yeah I hear you-- I have bought a fair bit of stuff from the local Kwakasuki shop-- gloves, helmets, fluids, neck warmers, etc.

He did a set of ME880's on the '96 FLHT and saved me quite a bit of $$$. Was even friendly about it as well which is more than the snob HD stealers around here could ever do....

my apols for the slight hijack...
