in 04 i bought a sportster because i thought it was cool to have a HD. I was 32 years old and for me, i realized i was not ready for a Harley, still in the fast bike/sportbike stage of my life. then when i bought my Ultra at 36 years of age, i wonder why i didnt do it sooner. In other words, when i bought my Ultra, i new it was the bike i wanted and i have rode a lot of different bikes. If you question the bike you bought after buying it, chances are you will be selling it. Enjoy the Wing.
Thanks for all the response's. I plan on keeping the ultra. Bought in september covered it up for winter at the end of november with 3000 miles on it. I waned a full tourer for long distandce riding. I plan on doing a stage one and adding a oil cooler. Im not loyal to any brand. Just looking for reliability comfort looks and some passing power
And made in USA
..well then ya need a RoadGlide and Triumph Rocket III..
Looks like you got the setup I'm thinking of switching to, wife has a 09 Street Glide so I'm thinking (not asking anyones permission) of trading my Ultra for a Wing for the two up touring and for my comfort. I can understand the guys dilemma, the Ultra and Wings are both great bikes.

I use the Wing for distance riding. Like I said I like both bikes for differant reasons. Goldwing is more like a car than a bike. Meaning it is really smooth riding and running. It is fast as hell but kinda loses that "motorcycle" feeling. Handling is incredible. You can run the twisties FAST and its like your on a rail. Its a sport bike wrapped in a big fairing.
give it time it will grow on yea, I thought I made a mistake when I bought my first HD couldn't imagine being without it now. I went thru the same thing, comparing power, handling, cost etc.... My buddy rides a gold wing and we'll switch off on long trips he has more power, better handling, but in the end what drew you to HD in the first place. As for all the razz some people are just small minded if it ain't HD it ain't sh*t, that turns more people off with the snobby attitude.
"I have a Goldwing and a StreetGlide. I like them both for differant reasons.
The StreetGlide looks great, sounds great, and holds its value.
BUT
The Goldwing:
Has a lot more powerful, smooth acceleration, comes standard with cruise, alarm, and reverse, comes with a 3 year unlimited mile warranty, you can buy 4 more years of warranty for $400 (7yrs), will run for 100-200,000 miles with just oil changes, plug, and timing chain adjustments"

What he said.............................................. ....
Gold wing or Harley, lets see. I could have bought 2 or 3 gold wings for what I paid for this 2010 CVO Ultra. But you can only ride 1 at a time so might as well do it right. The other plus is you dont have to worry about someone you know seeing you on a gold wing and with the Harley you want people to know its you.
