came right out. I used a box end wrench with a slot cut into it so I could slip it over the 02 wires. Once they came lose they twisted out by hand after I unplugged the pig tail.

The sensors of some models are easier to get to than others, '07's being easy and '08's the opposite because of their position and angle on the pipe. My '07 was an easy angle and I used this socket for removal. Newer models use a smaller O2 sensor, but I'm not sure if '09 is one of those.

Some come out easy and some don't. Once you decide on a plan of attack and the proper tools to use, start out by warming the bike up and spraying some penetrant on the sensor. Let it set for 10 min. or so, then start to screw it out. If it balks don't force it, but spray on more penetrant and screw it back in a turn or so and wait another few minutes. Keep up with that process 'til it comes out. Make sure no penetrant gets on the tip.

I took mine out at about 3000 or so miles, but they came out pretty easily. The key is having an actual O2 sensor socket. Not saying you need the HD one, the one at Auto Zone for a few bucks will work....

+1 on the removal suggestions.

I just wanna add to make sure to use anti-sieze when you reinstall the sensors. and make sure the anti-sieze is rated sensor safe.

Another good tip is to run the motor for about 20 seconds which will heat the pipes a bit and will allow the sensors to come out easily. I also recommend using an O2 sensor socket

Once ya get them out, you'll wanna be sure you don't have this problem next time....

Apply anti-seize to the threads before you re-install them.
