Default Highway Peg Mount Question - how wide???

I’ve combed through the countless posts on various highway peg combos, but am not seeing what I’m looking for…

Anyway, for those that have offset mounts, do you have any issues with them hitting the ground on turns? And/or do you find that your legs are too spread apart (especially shorter riders)

I’m looking at the measurements on the Kury offsets (either standard or loghorns) and it’s like 2.5 to 3 inches to the clevis for the peg…. Add that to the 4.5+ inches for the pegs and these things will stick out 7.5+ inches from the highway bars??? That seems like a lot to me… am I reading this right?

Any looking down from the seat pics would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I have the Kuryakyn Longhorn offset Hwy pegs. Mine don't hit the ground in turns. If you look in the book, theres three different mounting's shown for short and tall people. I'm six foot. I have an Ultra Classic and have them mounted about the only place I can with the lowers on. My bike isn't lowered either. I like the Longhorn Pegs!

I see what you are saying now. If you look at the longhorns in the catalog you can mount them several different ways. You can't tell by my avatar pic, but mine don't stick out as far as regular pegs. you can swivel the mount and clamp to different angles. They are on page 79 in the 09 Kuryakyn book.

Sorry I don't have any pictures looking down but hope this might help. I drag my floorboards all the time because my SG is lowered in front also and have never worried about the pegs hitting(though they have saved my bags when I did tip my bike over once) being that low on the bar helped. FYI, I have a 32" inseam and tend to leave my heels on the boards and rest my foot angled out, I cannot imagine not having them now. As a vertical challenged rider I've found rising the pegs only made me uncomfortable. My friends said it looked like I was trying to mount a fat chick when they ride behind me and I have a rule that I dont mount again wider then my shoulders.

Jerm, I'm fairly new to the forum and not sure if you can see the pics I just put in my album. Let me know if you can see them. It shows the pegs mounted. hope this helps. I found my pegs on ebay cheaper than the book price.
