Highway Pegs installation question

Default Highway Pegs installation question

So I picked up a nice set of Highway Pegs for my RKC, but have a question. I'm going to mount them on the stock highway bars and am not sure where on the bars I should mount them. I'm 6-1 and I'm trying to figure out if I should install them low, med or high on the bar. Any "scientific" reasoning on the placement or is it more of a personal preference?

I did mine on personal preference on both bikes I had them on. Low for me.

I liked a smoother transition from peg to floorboard, especially if I had to do it in a hurry!

I like mine just slightly higher than the footboard. That way I gain another position by resting my heel on the footboard and the ball of my foot on the highway peg.

I think you really just need to sit on the bike and stretch your legs out where you think it would be comfortable.

Just what I did Pastor John. Gives you a wide range of positions. Seen many mount theirs high on the bars. Straight forward leg position gets old quick.

Best bet would be to give'em a test ride in different positions to
see what's most comfortable.
I'd change mine weekly until I was comfortable.... ended up same as
Pastor John has his.

I bought mine from a another HDF member and he had the same recomendation. Works out good like said above. Remember that comfort on the long haul is the idea, and a quick reaction time is sometimes needed. You will know instantly what way to move them on your first test ride. Differs with and without back rest also. Throw the wrenches in with ya and go for a ride..

+1 on Pastor John.
I can put feet on pegs; heel on foot board - toes on pegs; or feet on foot boards.
With heels on foot boards, makes for quick getting on brakes or to shift.
I angled mine for toes pointed out a little. Measure and get them the same.
Don't tighten too much at first, move for comfort, tight when right.

Put them anywhere they are comfortable for you and still give you a smooth transition from pegs to foot controls.
