Default Front Brake switch

Changed out the bars on my 08 RG. Used the manual but missed the part about the cardboard when installing the front master.

Looking at the manual, it looks like the switch has a plunger outside of the rubber gromet. Is this true? Otherwise, looks like everything installed OK.

If your brake light is on all the time you broke the switch. Cost of brake switch, not much. Experience of replacing, priceless. You won't forget the next time.

Problem is I have all the fairing (including ignition) off the bike so I can't check if brake light stays on.

Is there anything that sticks out beyond the rubber boot? Looking in at the boot and lever, the boot will expand when pulling in the brake lever. I'm hoping this is a good sign.

As for experience, yup won't forget that again

Can't really take any pix, can't get a good enough close up.

Went to the dealership and checked out a 10 RG. (denim black at Nashua NH HD if anyone is looking) It looks the same as what I have so I'm thinking I'm OK. They thought I was nutz when I whipped out a big ol' flashlight so I could see the switch.

Time will tell.

In the future, I find that the butt end of a zip tie works better than cardboard
