Here's a fairing mount on a Road Glide.

I run the cable to the aux port up and over my shield bag, keeping it out of the way.

Does the Harley Navigation Interface Module negate the need for running a wire to the aux port on the front of the radio?
Thanks

+1 for the fairing mount. I've got the Zumo 665 on my SG and love it. I've also got the same fairing bags (left one snaps off). My only complaint is that sometimes there is a lot of glare on the screen. Tried one of the "shades" but it basically blocked the whole screen. I wish it was tilted more toward me vs straight on, but it works great as it is.

If you have the Road Tech GPS 660 & 665 the Harley Navigation Interface Module will negate the use of the aux port. The music volume will automatically drop when a GPS spoken command is detected.

With the Garmin Zumo 660 & 665 not sure how it works I do know that it doesn't drop the music volume when a GPS command is given.

Pictures would be great, if available.

I'm not sure if the mount for your 660 is the same as the one for the 450/550, which is what I have?

I do like where it positions the GPS, up high and just off to the side. It holds the GPS quite securely. I'm not concerned with the small hole as I doubt it'll ever be removed. And if I would I'll just pop a flush fitting black plastic plug in the hole. Or mount a drink holder .
One negative IMO is that the mount and cradle are not particularly attractive w/o the GPS mounted.

I have the zumo 660 and the cradle comes with a cover that gives it a more finished look when the GPS isn't mounted.

Does the music also drop out if you're using the HD Ipod interface or the HD XM module, or does it drop out only from a AM/FM radio source?
Thanks

The navigation interface module (NIM) will only silence the radio (CD/AM/FM/whatever) when the GPS announces directions. If you want to listen to MP3 files from the GPS or use the satellite radio in the GPS, you will still need to connect the GPS to the radio auxiliary in plug and switch the radio to auxiliary.

Only the HD Road Tech version of the GPS's will work with the interface modules. The branded Zumo GPS's will not work.

I have the 550 with the dash mount and I really like it. Very little to no vibration and it is closer to line of sight for me than a handlebar or gas cap mount so it is easier to look at without taking my eyes off the road any longer than necessary.

Below is a picture of my installation. I ran the auxiliary cable behind the fairing and out the same hole as the right handlebar so it is mostly hidden. The look of the empty mount does not bother me as it it always mounted when I'm riding and I don't really care how it looks if I remove it when the bike is parked for me to go into a restaurant or store. The holes don't bother me either as I don't intend to remove it and if I or the next owner of the bike does, the holes can be plugged or the inner fairing replaced. The HD two bag windshield accessory does work also.

I bought the 660 two weeks ago and since then put on 700 miles, I am running it with the car set up, suction cup and aux power outlet. The suction cup is working fine. I am looking for a 1"Mx 5/8"M double ball, this will allow me to utilize the Ram system. I only use the 660 when traveling unknown territories hence I wanted to keep it portable.
