touring recall

Went to my dealership to get oil filter and primary gasket. They did recall on gas tank while I was looking around. Took about 20 minutes. Couldn't see what they did. Who cares? By the way is there a cheaper source for the oil filter. Are there subsutites that are as good or better?

I've usually avoided this answer but geez - do a search . . . tons of comments about alternate filters etc. Personally if it's just about saving money I don't get it . . . if you change the filter every 5k miles it's hardly worth trying to save a buck or two. Stock up from Chicago Harley or LSHD1

As suggested above, order 1 or 2 (or half a dozen if you need to) along with a gasket kit (derby cover and o-rings) thru some place like Chicago HD.

Not knowing what bike you have, take some time and read down through the appropriate threads on your machine. Then, while ordering filters and such, order the other stuff too.

While you might not need some things now, riding season is not that far away so order early and be ready.

Had one of these on my 62 Chevy 1/2 ton. Maybe they make an HD version.

H-D filters are Purolator. List here is copied from earlier thread.

WARNING: All filters are not created equal even though they fit. Differences in bypass spring pressure and filter media could result in damage to your engine.
While it is advised to use the proper HD filter for your engine for proper filtration, here is a cross reference if you can't get a genuine part.
