Question 36 MPG why

2009 FLHTCU - Stage 1 - No-Catlitic OEM Headers with Reinhart slip on's

11,500 miles and I average 36 MPG - Never seen anything over 40 MPG

RPM Cruzing range: 2800 - 3400

Is this normal for most of you out there ??

This may seem like a dumb response but tire pressure maybe.

I ride an 09 FLHTC and get 40+ most of the time

Yes, that is about the mileage I get at those cruising RPM's. Whether two up or not...and most of my miles are two up. The worst mileage I have gotten is somewhere near 32mpg. That was in the twisties two up between Ouray and Durango probably 2900-3600rpm.

No Tuner

Tires checked prior to each ride after 3 days - 36 F / 40 R 1 up 30% riding
38 F / 42 R 2 up 70% riding

Rider weight: 220 / Passenger: 120 max

On my 2010 limited, 3,000 is 80 mph. I would guess that your bike is the same. That means that you are riding at 75 to 85 mph?

I think that your mileage is in line for two up riding at those speeds on a barge.

I’m getting that with a PC III, Big Sucker and true duals. When I go anywhere that doesn’t have ethanol in the fuel my mileage jumps to 40+.
