Tires checked prior to each ride after 3 days - 36 F / 40 R 1 up 30% riding
38 F / 42 R 2 up 70% riding

I used to live a few miles from where you live and can probably guess where you ride most.
Given that, your mpg isn't that bad. However, on a trip you should easily get over 40mpg.
If not, I would consider a PCV or other tuner of your choice.
I get 40 mpg while riding the freeway to work and back. I ride 70 mph not over not under. When i ride up in the mountains i get a little better as i am going a little slower. And the Ca. gas doesn't help anything. I would like to strangle the fools that mandate it.
With that rpm range you are doing +75mph.
My baggers mileage suffers anytime over 70mph.
If I do 55mph to 62mph I can get 50 mile out of a gallon.
+1 took the words out of my mouth. I get close to 50 cruising at 55 to 65 mph. The other thing I was thinking, Trash the pos Rinehart's and get FuelMoto's Jackpot's. Half the price and better sound...
tuners, tire pressure, ethanol, B***S***! The right hand is 90% responsible for lower than expected gas milege. If you are running 75-80 mph you are going to get ~35 mpg. Drop the speed to 60-65 and watch your mpg climb to the mid 40s. Someone once told me that above 60mph, every increase of 10 mph will decrease your mpg ~ 17%. Do the math.
