Default Extending Brake line

Well, this probably has been discussed somewhere but I can't find it: If the front brake line needs to be extended due to installing apes, and I wanted to do that with braided steel line, where exactly should the new line tie in? At the block under the steering head, or should I start at the point where the stock rigid metal line clears the head and join the braided line there? This is on an FLHRI. I'm wondering if the reason for the rigid line is for duarability due to it being so close to the steering head and all the motion in that area. Thanks for any assistance!

I think most people just replace the whole line with a longer one. I haven't heard of anyone splicing into the original line.

I'm assuming you are going to make the line yourself? If so, I would probably connect inside the nacell as,IIRC, there is more room in there to flare the line and attach your fittings.

I'd guess the rigid line was more for $$ savings over durability. Personally, I'd just drop the coin on Goodridge or the Diamondback lines and be done with it.

Thanks, it makes sense to do this once and be done - I jsut couldn't figure out if the rigid line was there to prevent or lessen the chance of gettomh pinched. Suppose the braided lines would be just as resistant to that.

Sorry - I've got to get that spellchecker checked!
