I have the option to buy some used guards for my "98"Ultra. Does anyone know if they were pulled from a "2000" Ultra, if they will fit my ride? I don't have any part numbers....Thanks!
Can't tell you from personal experience. The part number from my '07 manual is 49193-93. That leads me to believe that from 1993 thru 2007 should be the same, but that's just my opinion.
The same Saddlebag rails were used from 1993 to 2008. Before 1993, the Oil tank and battery were on the right side. and then Harley moved them when they wided the frame. They changed again with the 2009 model that has a new frame.
Now the rear guard changed several times. The left was the same from 1979 to 1996. But the right one changed in 1993 when Harley moved the Battery under the seat. Then both changed when Harley moved the upper mounting point to above the frame from a tab welded on the frame.
Your 1998 will use any rails from 1993 to 2008, but the rear guard will need to be 1997 to 2008.
