Question 103" or 95"

Need input ! I picked up a SE 103 kit for my 04 ultra, Long story short it was missing the crank but price was right so I bought it. I've been looking for a 4 3/8 stroker crank and talking to alot of people. Was turned on to a few Very reputable shop's. Great right, Well now I don't know what direction to go in. I thought I had it all figured out, More stoke more power. I'm looking for it down low in the rpm's this is a full dresser - two up 80% and maybe a small trailer, I installed a Baker DD6 too so I want torque more than anything. Well it's been three places now that are saying to stick with the lower end that I have and to go 95" instead of the 103" ???? have been told [by more than a few motor guru's] to use my 103 heads - Harley's 203 cam's - a power commander III - D&D Fatcat 2 into 1 and with a good tune it will run circles around the 103" ??? Have been told the longer stroke creates more side thrust - speed and friction on the pistons and the shorter piston skirts takes life out of it too ! they tell me if displacement is what I must have to go Over square with it [bore the case's and go 4" or bigger bore] up to 114" with the stock 4" stroke. I just don't know which way to go now, would like to here from people who have done ether or and there results. Again I want it down low this engine will not be running up in the 5000 - 6000 rpm range it won't even see 4500 very often, That's why I thought longer stroke would be the way to go.

As the old saying goes, there's no replacement for displacement, that said it depends on what you can find a crank for. I was going to do a 95 a few years ago and when we did the tear down we found one rod that had a tight spot on the crank, this was with 76K on it, I could have got a stock take out crank for $250 but figured if I had to split the cases I might as well go 103. I've got about 55K on the 103 & it's still running great. As for the added side forces it's evidently not a problem since all the 96's have the 4 3/8 stroke. A 95 will do you just fine but then you'll have to buy different pistons, so again it just depends on what a cranks going to run you.

Thank you very much ! That's what I want to hear, Someone with some miles to back up the 103". I still can't figure there statement's about more power from a 95" motor ? A longer stroke has to make more power in the low rpm's. Shorter stroke may rev quicker but I'm sure the stroker will pull harder. Right ?
