I just purchased a used one piece sundowner seat (vinyl) and when I received it in the mail it had light white/silver rubs marks on it. Any tips on removing these marks or maybe a dye to bring it back to satin black? I tried magic eraser, rubbing alchol, 409, etc, but nothing removes it. It almost looks like paint overspay that someone tried to wipe off. Again, it is very light, but can really be seen in the sunlight.
I paid next to nothing for this seat and it is in very good condition except for these slightly visible blems..
Try Doc Bailey's. I use it on all my black leather and vinyl stuff, from seats to jackets and boots. It does have a black dye, so use rubber gloves when applying.
Forgot to mention what I like most about Doc Bailey's...
Once it's dry and buffed off it doesn't rub off on your clothes. When you buff it off the seat...none gets on your a$$. Use it on your boots and it won't make the bottom of your jeans black like some polishes do. Good stuff and the bottle lasts forever. I'm still on my first bottle 3 years later.
Could it be wax that got into the texture? If it might be try peanut butter. Best tip I ever read right here on HDForums. Use it to get all knda of wax off things.
Do What I did to mine...have the foam cut down, lowered 3/4 inches, removed the big sides and the big nose on the seat, added Burgandy Croc inserts and memory foam for the wife and me in all the right places...had the seat recovered totally in leather. NOW it is a sundowner. Cost 250.00 paid 100.00 for the seat brand new in box on ebay. Got a custom seat for 350.00. SWEET! well...ahem...thats what I would do to get rid of the silver marks.
