Glad I found this thread.I just replaced two brass inserts with the ones described here and it took me longer to take off the fairing than it did to replace the inserts,Bolt and nut idea( as an install tool) works great.Total cost,,$6.00 including bolt and nut, total time,,less than one hour. One insert had already been replaced before I bought the bike.I was looking at replacing the inner fairing, great thread and Im sure it will help lots of people
This was great - just did it on mine. Had to replace one, and bought two extras as spares. Great info on the process as well - super easy, gotta love the price too!
I know this is old but I subscribed back when as I knew I might need it sometime.
Well its sometime!
So went to change out the Freedom shield for my Klockwerks for a little more air this summer and the whole plastic assembly is broken off on the left side.
I tried to JB Weld Epoxy it back it place but 30 hrs. later it just pulled apart when I went to try it.
Is there any way to circumvent having to replace the inner fairing? Doesn't look like there is enough material behind it to tap a repair coil into it.
Thanks for any help in advance..
