Any comments on whether the E3 can possibly do better than this tire?
I've traditionally gotten 25-30k out of a front D402, and changed to an E3 front just 9k ago. I can't speculate on how long it will last but I'd guess it'll do better based on its wear now (4/32" now, 5/32" new) and my experience with the rear. My rear has 18k now with 3/32" remaining (10/32" new), and 10k is all I could get out of the first two D402 rears.

7500 miles out of rear 402's...three of 'em. Correct pressure always, no burnouts ever, but I do ride agressively. 25,000 on original front 402 and still looks good.

I got 29k on my 402 front and 18k on rear 402's .. road surfaces have a impact along with riding style for tire wear

I don't think you will regret going to an E3. I just changed my rear on my 05 RK to an E3, and it gives a much smoother ride. I still have a 402 on the front, but will be going to an E3 as soon as it wears out. I'm actually looking forward to it.

Wow, the 402 rear on my Road King just turned 3 thousand and it is within a whisker of being on the wear bars. And I check my air pressure before almost every ride. And never, ever do burnouts!
