I cannot believe all of you that do not lock their bikes up, just crazy to this City boy. I have seen bikes stolen from all sorts of locations, locked and chained. In front of busy bars, toy runs, garages and a back porch. As stated before, 2x4 under the neck and 2 or 3 guys can get your bike in a truck in under a minute. By the time you or your dog hear the alarm the truck is down your driveway and gone. Good luck.

IF they want it that bad....it's gone! ......and there's little you can do about it other than call your insurance agent....and Uber for a ride home.
I don't think my Cocker Spaniel would scare anyone and pulling a gun to shoot wouldn't be considered a "self defense" reason to kill someone (unless they were inside your garage or home). Even then you'd be tied up in court for years.......as I said they can have it, I'll buy another one.

I have a little story about a friend who bike was stolen. His house has the garage under his bedroom and he and his wife went to bed one night and he had gotten up to **** about 11.
Looked out the window and his 69 Camaro was out in the driveway. They had got into the garage and moved the car and a big red tool box to get to the bike. Gone, never heard a thing sleeping right above it.
Bike was nothing really special , a stock mid 90's springer. They will get it if they really want it.

Nope... I don't ever lock my bike when it's in my garage or in my driveway. I guess they'd have to disable the alarm first, but I suppose they can do that?? I don't worry about it though. I've had bikes my whole life, never had one stolen yet.

Just go to a bar, and get on one you like, and ride away.

When did they go to fobs that have to be near bike?

You just made my point. What good was the lock in all the situations you described? Useless.

I do think locks and fork locks have advantages. Not everyone is professional theft ring.Someone breaks in, and disocvers it starts may ride away, especially if not pros. I think fork locks help, atleast it can't roll right into a trailer.

Be curious to know how many bikes out of homes are pros. Also be curious to know if # of thefts has gone done last 20 years. Since the market fell out, I would think so would theft. But I don't know.
