I am mildly amused at all the responses with junkyard dogs as security. I just watched a cable program about reformed burglars counseling homeowners on security. The thiefs just walked right up to the most vicious looking dogs with a steak in hand and the dog went on break while the thiefs cleaned out the house. All cleaned out of valuables in less than 10 minutes.
Walk up to my German Shepherd with a steak if he doesnt know you and see how you like living without fingers and hands.
When did they go to fobs that have to be near bike?
2007. The newer fobs are "Proximity fobs". No button. The bike just knows when the fob is near and lets you start. The security system is an option so not all bikes have fobs.
The older fobs (like mine) have a button. Hold button down to arm. Double click button to dis-arm.

Why do you say no?

I do not lock my 07 RK in the garage, and it does have a fob that hangs up in the house, and to be honest I have tried to start thinking the fob was close enough, no sir the lights start blinking.
Never in the garage, and I could say I rarely lock it outside... I have the alarm always on, and can't imagine someone strong enough to raise this half ton bike on a truck
You would be surprised how much four guys can lift. Besides, what if they come with a trailer?
I have a heavy eye bolt in the garage floor and a chain through the frame
I have the habit of locking my bike whenever I walk away from it... I do it without thinking... doesn't matter where I park it....
I feel pretty safe at home...... our neighborhood is spread out, all 1.3+acre lots, some as big as 6 acre. All in a development with no thru-traffic. I have a small lot, but all fenced/gated, with a steep, narrow, and long driveway.. My motorcycles are in a small 350sq ft garage/shop 12' from my house and the shop is a favorite spot for my two best friends to hang out and nap.....
Note; In the pic the fawn was a puppy @ 110lbs... now he's 160lbs with a big attitude towards anyone who dares to approach his fence line...
I lock both bikes every time they're parked. Including fork locks. Also have alarms on them. Whenever we're gone I lock cable lock through their wheels and a padlock through the garage door rail too. Also, I've had friends watch four guys with pipes at a rally pick up a squealing bike and throw it in a truck in front of a crowd. When someone asked what's going on they said "Don't worry, it's a repo!" It wasn't.
