Theres been ton's of threads on here about this subject. It's confusing to me as to what the HD Stage1 Download is actually capable of doing. I 've been told by different Dealer Service guy's that if you are leaving your bike stock with just AC and Pipes, The DL is OK. I had The stage1 w/K&N AF installed by Dealer. I was going to leave my stock exhaust on. I changed my mind and installed a set of FuelMoto's Dyna Tuned Slip-on's. I took it back to my Dealer Service Dept. He checked the DL and said he enrichened it a little to handle the Exhaust? Is he lying to me. I was told by another Dealer that the DL was only good for AF change, if you add open exhaust, you need a tuner? I've also been told the ECM will adjust in a range???? Question's!

On my '06 EG, they did the stage one with the download. Didn't work too well. The bike kept shutting off at the worst times. They later had to pu the power commander on. I's been 4 years and no problems so far

Both HD and D&D advise that no ECM changes are necessary with exhaust changes and only AC changes require downloads or tuners.

But will the DL let it run rich enough for the AF and open pipes?

I have an SE AC and SE exhaust on my 2010 with the download and it runs fine. I believe the download only brings it back to stock AFR's and extends the rev limiter. I will probably still go to some sort of tuner eventually, but I will wait for summer to see how hot it really gets.

Thanks, that's exackly what I'm thinking. I talked with iclick earlier about this subject and he suggested the same thing. He said if it's running ok now (and it is) Wait until summer and see if it run's good then and's not too hot. If it's not running good then I'll buy the PC-V from Jamie. But it's still confusing what you hear Dealer's telling folk's.
