Default What's wrong with Stage One Download.

I just ordered a 2010 Limited and will keep it stock except for Pipes, AC and Download. Is the Download sufficient to run richer and cooler?

this is just a guess, but I think itll still be lean. is say this because they have to keep in line with all the rules and regulations. So it would make sense that that they simply tune it to with those same rules. but maybe someone with some 'real' knowledge will chime hin here. Now youve got me curious as I just added a Stage1 w/slipon and had them remap the bike. I could tell a difference after the remap, I did the install my self and had to ride it to the dealer for the remap and it had a bit of a sputter on down shifting. I didnt get the rpms up high enough but it probably would have had some backfiring too.

The '10 bikes don't seem to run as lean or as hot as the earlier bikes. That said, the download on my '05 Night Train was way too lean. The bike ran ridiculously hot, pinged and popped in all temperatures (worse when it was hot out). But I regularly saw over 50mpg.

The Stage 1 DL from HD will get you within EPA specs similar to stock, except with a freer-flowing intake and exhaust. Performance will get a boost, but not up to the bike's potential if equipped with a tuner, and I doubt if cooling will be affected much if any. This will cost ~$150 while you could spend another $150 and get a tuner that will run cooler and with much more authority.

When I had the Stage 1 download done on my '010 Ultra (stock 96 motor), my local dealer recommended that I do the 103 download, as they felt the 96 would still be too lean. Did the 103 and have had no issues so far... with a 103 motor, not sure what my dealer would recommend.

Iclick:

Which tuner were you referring to that costs $300?? Just curious. I was under the impression the tuners were more costly than that.

I believe (but I could be wrong) that our Harleys come with a 14.7 AFR from the factory. And I'm guessing that the stage 1 download from the factory will keep you right there at 14.7. And I think that most tuners are tuned to get you around 13.5, which will make you run richer and cooler. And if I'm not mistaken I believe iclick's got the Power Commander from Jamie, which is what I have as well. I paid a little under 300 for it and it came pre-mapped for my specific set-up.

for sure iclick uses the PC from Jamie at Fuel Moto (not sure if he has a PC V or PC III).
