Default Does 2010 Limited Run Richer?

Most 2010 owners state they get low mileage with Limited, high 30's to low 40's. Are the 2010 bikes set up richer because of the Cat?

They run extremely lean, that is the reason for the heat...

Then why the low gas Mileage? I thought Cats were suppose to be hot in order for them to work by burning excess fuel ?

I don't know about the Limited, but my 2010 FLHTCU runs much cooler than my '07' Heritage Classic. I know that Fuel Moto has said that the 2010 bikes with the catalytic converters do run leaner and hotter than previous years, but I've been quite impressed with the lack of heat from my Ultra so far. I have an oil cooler and oil temp gauge on my '10' Ultra and have not seen oil temps above 220 degrees in stop and go traffic. This was while riding in 75 degree weather. I did add an Eastern Performance parade fan that does drop the oil temp 20 degrees when I'm sitting at a stop light, but other than the above mentioned add-ons the bike is bone stock.

Would the bigger engine of the limited cause it to burn more fuel?

If I understand it correctly the catalytic converter runs hot to "Burn" the Carbon Monoxide gas (from incomplete combustion) to convert it to Carbon Dioxide. This gas can be processed by plants and is less toxic to humans.

Guys You won't believe this but I have only got 120 miles on my Limited as you know with a new engine I've been keeping it at or under 3500 rpms. I had the 255 cam, super tuner,Vance and Hines power duals w/Monster ovals.
I stopped and filled it up for the first time and got 59 MPG. I know it seems unbelieveable but its true. That being said don't go out and spend a bunch of money looking for the same results cause after it gets the 1k service I bet it wont get over 35 MPG If it does I'll be happy.

It varies... in my only 700 miles I've seen mid 40s.. I suspect that as the bike breaks in it will get better.

2007-2010 are all generally running 14.7:1 AF ratio so I don't understand the comments about 2010 bikes running more lean. They may be running hot due to the cats coverting the gas and disapatting the excess heat but that does not mean they are running more lean.

IMHO, a modern air cooled Harley with a good stage 1 should be getting around 40-42 mpg in combined city/highway driving. Any more than that and I would add fuel to my stage 1 map. I would also take off the entire stock exhaust and headers and go aftermarket wihen doing a stage 1 on a 2010 bike. JMHO

You are right, I don't. Recheck the math.
