Talking Detachable Tour Pak Rack

Getting the docking points adjusted can take a little time (the first time), but after that, on/off is a snap. Of course, practice helps. I've worn out a set of the plastic rings on my 09, but replacing them at 25K wasn't a big deal.

What kind of time and difficulty is it to remove tour pack on EGC using stock mounting hardware? If were talking 15 mins or so I can live with that vs shelling out over 300 bones for detachable mounting hardware that doesn't sound as stable or secure for that matter.

Realistically at least a half hour, probably 45 mins, allowing for packing tools away etc. It is that awkward kind of time which would leave you more inclined to not do it!

What tools etc; do you need to take off and put on a detachable tour-pak? Inquiring minds want to know. I've got the docking hardware, mounting bracket to mount on my '09 Ultra Classic. I didn't know you needed tools to remove and put the tour-pak back on afterwards.

Not sure I understand you question correctly so I will answer in both ways:

Once Detach kit is fitted no tools are required to take pack on / off, that is the beauty of if

To fit the kit - once off job, the tools in the HD toolkit can do the job, but there are a couple of Torx bolt sizes and small nuts and bolts, really nothing special at all

But I am now looking at the FBI docking solution for the 09-10 bikes. It is very clean looking and the hardware is not very visible. But right now they are only showing a kit for the backrest and not the tour pack. I have emailed FBI to see if they are in the making of a kit that will handle the backrest and tour pack.
FBI now has a tour pack rack for their docking hardware and have had it for over a month now. They also just made me an adapter for my HD solo TP mount for my 09 SG. Although it needs a little refinement it will work great after that. I'm just waiting for Larry to get back in town next Tuesday to give him the tweaks that need to be done before they go into production.

My girl has the solo set up with a chopped Pak, no problems. I have a 4-point on the black bike which I frequently switch between my solo options (luggage rack or my '69 Shovel Tour-Pak) and 2-up. No problems there either. Sory I'm unable to tell you if mine are the "A" ones or not, don't have the boxes anymore. My Shovel Tour-Pak uses the regular solo detachable mount, same as her bike. No problems here. In fact, I recently picked up an Ultra style Tour-Pak for my Roadie and the detach works fine also.
